Kathryn Butcher

Kathryn (Katie) Ann Butcher was born in O'Neill, NE on June 9, 1932 and began her eternal life on February 18, 2007. Katie is survived by her husband of 52 years, James T. Butcher, three daughters; Susan Blair and husband Steve, Beth Butcher, Emily Waters and husband Bruce and one son, Thad Butcher and wife Kelli, grandchildren Sarah, Andrew and Jackson Blair and Zach and Erin Butcher, brother Jim Golden and wife Dory of Sun City, AZ, sister Maxine Owens of Palm Desert, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Lois Golden, sister Concy Miller and infant son, Stephen Maxwell Butcher. Katie was an inspiration to her family and friends. After being diagnosed with cancer in 1986, she demonstrated her good fight of faith. She was a perfect example of courage. She lived each day with a superb attitude, never complaining and always encouraging others to see the positives in life. Katie's sense of humor radiated in her words, her eyes and her contagious smile and laughter. She was compassionate, caring, full of love and grace and shared it freely with anyone who came near her. She will be missed endlessly but the gift of her spirit and example will live on in those who were lucky to have known her. Katie was a devout Christian and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Vigil Service will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. A Celebration Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. by Father John Miller of Columbia Falls, MT, godson and nephew of Katie. Katie received the "gift of life" many times during her illness. In her honor the family requests blood donations be made to The American Red Cross, Blood Donor Services or donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the love and care shown to Katie; namely Dr. Jack Sternberg, Dr. Tom Sneed, the entire staff at Arkansas Oncology, Dr. Frits VanRhee and the many nurses and attendants at the Myeloma Infusion Center and Clinic at UAMS.
