View Video Tribute Stan Slater, 83, of North Little Rock went to be with his Lord on May 31, 2012 with his wife and five children by his side. Stan had an endless dry wit and maintained his sense of humor to the end. He was a man of strong moral character, selfless, and always put his Lord and family first. He loved being with his buddies at Burns Park golf course, but he was happiest when his home was filled with his family and friends. He is survived by his cherished bride of 58 years, Phyllis Slater, of North Little Rock; four "daddy's girls", Sandy Fischer, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Carol Venable, of North Little Rock; Susan Harris (Dewayne), of Hot Springs, and Sharon Stuff (Todd) of North Little Rock; and a much needed son, Stan Slater, Jr. (Lisa) of Springdale; grandchildren, Joe and Mark Venable, Melissa Fischer Cohrs, Haley, Hannah and Lance Harris, Luke and Logan Slater and Andrew, Allison and Annabeth Stuff; and brother, Phil Slater, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his precious granddaughter, Lesley Venable and brothers, Oliver and Laurie Slater. The family would like to thank the numerous friends who called and stopped by to visit with Stan during his illness for their outpouring of love. Stan was a practical man and would NOT want you to send flowers, but instead use the money for God's kingdom. So please make memorials to Castlebluff, P.O. Box 94344, North Little Rock, AR 72190 in lieu of flowers. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Fellowship North. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
